Today in History: April 3
April 3rd 1965. Richmond captured. Although General Robert E. Lee would not surrender for another week the capture of the Confederate capital signaled that the war was coming to a close and assured a Northern victory.
Abraham Lincoln: Nominated as an extreme underdog by the Republicans
his election ignited the breakup of the Union. He led the country
through its gravest crisis ever. In the process he redefined the
concept of Union and freed the slaves
FDR: What can I say four terms(3 complete). He lead the nation during the Great Depression and World War II and created the United Nations. I think enough can be said
